First, you need to know who is showing signs of drowning. Most people who are in the situation of asphyxia will wave their hands and batter under the water before sinking. The drowned people often stand upright, their hands raised and extended to the sides.

First aid underwater is the first important thing to do to get victims out of asphyxia. If you are not a lifeguard and cannot swim, give a notice to other people to help or throw rescue objects at the victim.

If you know how to swim or rescue workers, you should have basic resuscitation under water based on the level of alertness of the victim. If the province, it is necessary to reach through a means of salvage, especially the buoy, to keep the victim's head above the water surface to clear the airway. If the victim loses consciousness, mouth respiration should be performed, pressing the heart outside the chest before taking it to the shore.

The basic resuscitation after putting the victim on the ground is to put the victim on his or her back, with the head flat (if the asphyxiated person is conscious, he should put his head slightly higher than the person). Octopus is a phenomenon that occurs in about 65% of cases, so during the resuscitation process, the victim can breathe in more vomit fluid that hinders the resuscitation of the mouth. If vomiting is found, turn the victim's mouth to the side, hook with vomit with fingers.

In case of breathing apnea, oral respiration must be immediately given to support oxygen. If palpation of the heart is palpable, the heart cannot be removed immediately by using the hand of the heart.

Press on the lower half of the sternum in the following way:

  1. Using 2 thumbs (for children under 1 year of age) press in the middle position and under the line connecting the two nipples about 1 finger (about the width of one finger).
  2. Use one hand (for children ages 1-8) or two hands stacked on each other (for children over 8 years old and adults) click on the top of the brow 2 fingers. Combination of cardiac pressure and asphyxiation in the ratio of 5/1 (for children under 8 years of age) or February 15 (for children over 8 years of age, adults). These emergency actions must still continue on the way to the medical facility or until they breathe again. This emergency sometimes takes hours or longer.

It is recommended to warm the victim's body and absolutely do not reduce body temperature.

On-site management can be performed immediately after taking the patient ashore or parallel while taking the victim to the nearest medical facility.

Avoid false remedies for drowning victims

Most people who suffer from brain death or sequelae due to lack of oxygen are unable to receive first aid or improper treatment before going to a medical facility.

  1. " Shocking water" : The action of reversing the victim is not necessary and should not be done. Usually the amount of water in the lungs is very small, not as much as most people think. This water will be flushed out when the victim breathes again. This shock of water is not necessary, slowing down the emergency time of suffocation and increasing the risk of inhaling water into the lungs.
  2. Breathing and pressing the heart to the apnea victim stop the heart from being performed improperly like: spreading two victims' hands to the sides and pressing against the chest to press the heart without blowing will not work. Delay in emergency breathing - pressing the heart causes the brain and organs to suffer from prolonged oxygen deprivation, which can cause brain cell death, leading to death or severe brain sequela.
  3. Fire or "rolling" victims : Let them lie across the lu and burn inside the fire. People think that this will warm the victim. In fact, this will further aggravate the situation of the victims because of their burns and, more importantly, the delay of emergency rescue.
