Gene changes increase the risk of cancer

Picture 1 of Gene changes increase the risk of cancer The results of a study by Washington University School of Medicine show that changes in the ATR gene in tumors increase the risk of recurrence and the death rate of women with stomach cancer.

The ATR gene acts to guide cell responses when DNA is damaged.

Through analysis of 248 cases of gastrointestinal cancer, the scientists found that 5% of cases of ATR change and those with genetically modified women were at risk of recurrence after treatment was higher than 4, 29 times and the risk of death is 3.88 times higher than normal.

Scientists plan to continue a broader study to confirm this conclusion and examine the link between the changes of ATR and the therapeutic effect of recurrent uterine cancer.

However, according to them, this new finding may help to suggest therapeutic therapies that are more targeted and suitable for cancer patients with stomach cancer.
