Gene controls plant growth

Scientists at the University of California at San Diego, said they discovered three genes in plants that control their growth every day, Russia's KM site said.

As we know, unlike animals, plants grow up all their lives, but the development process is interrupted, but so far people have not explained the causes of their night activities. Thanks to the discovery of three new genes, it is understandable how they controlled this process.

In their research, scientists have come from the view that all organisms - without exception - have their own 'biological clock' . The watch adjusts their activity depending on the time of day.

The observation of the growth of cabbage and Arabidopsis has the scientific name Arabidopsis thaliana during the day and at night has shown that the 'biological clock' controls the coordination between the three synthetic protids. in plant cells with the participation of 3 genes, symbols are ELF3 , ELF4 and LUX .

Further studies show that these three protidates form the highest concentration of molecular compounds concentrated at the end of the afternoon and early night.

This compound (called 'afternoon protid combination') is responsible for blocking the function of two growth-stimulating protidates , produced by PIF4 and PIF5 genes.

Thus, the protid combination acts as a unique 'brake' for plant growth. If it 'turns off' one of these genes, the length of the stem begins to increase dramatically.

According to experts, in the future this invention will allow the creation of new, fast-growing, early-harvested crops to be widely adopted in agriculture.
