Germany successfully separated 2 babies with belly

Two twins born to Nigerian belly were successfully separated by Dietrich von Schweinitz hospital - Germany.

Two girls named Mercy and Goodness, less than two years old, were twin sisters whose abdomen was conjoined in the womb. One very lucky thing for the twin girls is that their parts are growing evenly from the womb, they only share the liver. This makes surgery very simple.

Participating in the surgery were 6 surgeons and 2 anesthesia teams working continuously for 4 hours and 30 minutes. According to doctors, the two babies are completely healthy after surgery and can have a normal life after this.

They also had to stay in Munich for a while until the wound was healed and recovered. Currently one of them has better health than the other.

The Dietrich von Schweinitz Hospital is the first hospital in performing operations to separate conjoined twins. Over the past 5 decades, the hospital has conducted 13 surgeries as above and 11 of them have been successful.

The surgery of two sisters Mercy and Goodness is sponsored by the German Red Cross. German Airlines Lufthansa also sponsors airfare for children and parents.
