America: Successfully separated two twin girls conjoined from belly to leg
A group of American surgeons successfully performed the separation of two 4-year-old twin girls conjoined from the abdomen to the legs in 2 days 7 and 8 August.
The 10-hour surgery took place at a hospital in Salt Lake City in Utah state.
When conjoined, Kendra and Maliyah share a kidney, a liver and legs. The health of two girls is currently in stable condition.
After working all night, the surgeons recreated the belly and hips of two girls. The two children were taken to the intensive care unit.
Every little girl now has only one leg and Kendra will keep her only kidney. Maliyah will undergo continuous dialysis sessions for 3 to 6 months, then receive a kidney transplant from her mother.
