Giant asteroids once fell into Australia
Scientists have discovered an area of up to 200km affected by the collision between the earth and an asteroid with a diameter of 10-20km in Australia. Scientists estimate the collision occurred more than 300 million years ago.
Andrew Glikson, visiting professor at the Australian National University (ANU), said the asteroid was a giant compared to the meteorite that exploded in the Russian sky a week ago. The incident in Russia shocked the air, broke many windows and injured nearly 1,000 people in the city on the Ural, Chelyabinsk range, but Glikson believes the collision in Australia is still shocking globally. .

'This is a new discovery , ' Glikson said on Feb. 20 about the affected area of the East Warburton plateau in South Australia.
'And what's really amazing is the range of shaken lands, the minimum diameter of the shaken area must be 200km. I spent many months in the laboratory doing a series of tests to measure the displacement of the stratigraphic plates and determined that the soil here suffered a tremendous shaken effect . from a small asteroid. especially 10km. Its influence may be global, not just the region ".
Glikson, of ANU's Institute of Planetary Science Research and Archeology and Anthropology, said that despite recent meteorite rain in Russia and a 45-meter asteroid 2012 DA 14 has just crossed the earth Previously, incidents like meteorites in Australia were extremely rare.
