Giant black spots appeared on the sun
Some giant black marks are forming in the sun, a sign that this star is about to release violent storms.
Scientists from the US Aeronautics Agency (NASA) discovered a group of dark spots using data from Solar Dynamics Observatory, NASA's solar tracking spacecraft. The group of black spots has a width of over 100,000km and is named AR 1476 . They turned toward the opposite side of the earth last weekend. 4 black spots in the group are larger than the globe. Amateur astronomers on earth can observe them with telescopes if their vision is not hampered by clouds, Discovery said.
Two groups of black stain AR 1476 and AR 1471 on the surface of the sun.
Black stains are dark areas on the surface of the sun. They appear due to strong magnetic changes. The brightness of the black spot is only 1/4 of the brightness of the surrounding area. Strong solar storms often appear from dark spots and they release streams of charged particles into space.
The scientific world divided the solar storm into three levels C, M and X, where X is the strongest. Solar storms of level X can cause storms from the planet's upper layer. The interaction between charged particles from the sun and the earth's magnetic field can cripple radio waves. M-level solar storms can cause radio signal loss in the two polar regions of the earth for short periods of time. The impact of Class C solar storms is often very small and rarely detected.
Spaceweather.com, a space weather website, said AR 1476 has released some C-class solar storms in the past few days. M-grade storms also appeared from another group of sunspots, named AR 1471 on May 7.
