The lead research team, including Babak Parviz, Steve Lee and Sebastian Thrun of the Google X Labs, a branch of the giant focused on future technologies and ideas, such as space lifts, robots and a car without a driver.

According to the New York Times, glasses running Google's Android operating system allow users to check mail, update Facebook, or even check-in to favorite restaurants. The device connects directly to the user's smartphone to provide real-time information on the display.

3G or 4G connectivity, GPS and many other environmental sensors help glass to update information in real time. Connectivity with Google services and smartphones helps users stay connected and work better than ever. They work through voice recognition and activation technology.

Another noteworthy feature is that Project Glass has a built-in navigation system and a built-in camera.

Project Glass is part of a long-term project to expand the use of the Android platform to as many devices as possible. Last year, Google introduced the Android @ Home project that could connect any device used in the home.

Project Glass, which is currently in its early stages, should not be available in the market.
