Hai Van Pass tunnel is awarded with excellent technical solution

In the afternoon of June 19, in Hanoi, the Association of American Technical Organizations awarded outstanding technical solutions of the tunnel through Hai Van Pass. This project is selected from 160 infrastructure projects participating in the recruitment in 2006.

The tunnel project is located on the highway 1 section between Thua Thien - Hue and Da Nang, 6.3 km long. During the design and construction process, Project Management Unit 85 and the consulting joint venture used Austria's new NATM tunneling technology. This technology was first applied and succeeded in Vietnam. The technical solutions have overcome the situation of landslides, subsidence, groundwater. The ability to locate the tunnel is very large, when digging from two ends only 2.5 cm apart.

The Hai Van Pass Tunnel, which was put into operation, has brought great benefits, while ensuring traffic safety and reducing 3/4 time of travel compared to passing the pass.
