Hard disk encryption information

IBM has just released a self-encrypting hard disk and storing information. With TS1120, you don't need any application software to control the encryption process.

The TS1120 drive aims to allow users to encrypt information at the primary level (tape level), meaning that all encryption tasks are hardened, not in the control of the operating system. However, the price of this type of hard drive is not cheap either.

Currently, it is for sale for $ 35,500. A price is too high for personal computer users. However, this is a storage model for enterprise networks, customers of Unix and mainframe servers. In this environment, the cost of securing important information sometimes exceeds the number of million dollars.

With TS1120, data on the hard drive, even if dropped, cannot be easily decoded. According to initial information, each hard drive will have a number of different encoding parameters, though, the algorithm is the same. This hard drive uses the Secure Blue technology it introduced in April last year.
