Has created artificial chromosomes?

American researcher Craig Venter has made the science world flutter when he claims to have created artificial life. This achievement, according to Venter, will be a miracle drug to cure many kinds of human diseases, and even develop new sources of energy to counteract global warming.

According to The Guardian (UK), the controversial genetic expert confirmed that he created an artificial chromosome from laboratory chemicals. It is expected that Mr. Venter will announce this shocking invention in a few weeks.

AFP news agency said the chromosome of his research group Venter is called Mycoplasma, including 580,000 genetic codes. It will be implanted and ' control ' a living bacterial cell, thereby forming a new life form. Thus, this cell will not be completely artificial but partly natural, with the ability to clone.

Scientists claim that Mr. Venter has created a 'framework from which to build anything'. 'It could be a contribution to humanity as new drugs that cure many diseases, but can also become a threat to humankind as biological weapons' - Pat Mooney, Director of Organization Canadian science ETC Group, said.

However, the initial goal of this five-year project (funded by the US Department of Energy) is to develop new environmentally friendly fuel sources. Therefore, Mr. Venter explains that these artificial bacteria can help 'clean up' excess CO2, thereby reducing the risk of global warming, or it can help generate fuels. Clean as propane or butane completely from edible sugar.
