Highest salt lake in the world

Located at 4,700m above sea level, Zhari Namco is the highest saltwater lake in the world. The lake is located between the peaks of the Gangdise Mountains, in the Tibetan Autonomous Region, southwest of China.

With an area of ​​1023 km 2 , 54.3 km long and an average of 18.36 km, Zhari Namco is the third largest lake in Tibet after Lake NamSto and Siling Sto.

There are many types of wild animals that live in the meadows and wet lands around the lake: antelope, Asian wild ass, black-headed gull, black-necked crane or goose-headed goose .

It is like a "jade" of the Tibetan plateau.
