A total of 28 racers from eight countries participated in the competition. And the record holder is Sebastianan Bowier of the Delft University of Technology and VU Amsterdam. Lead researcher Wouter Lion said setting this speed record was not an easy task. Bad weather has made the group difficult in the past few days. ' When you set the world record after three days of bad weather, it feels great,' Lion said happily.

The Dutchman said that in order to make that record, the Bowier rider must practice 15-20 hours a week for a year. They have designed the bike on its side, the outside is surrounded by a shell that makes the bicycle limit the air resistance.

'Our design reduces the drag on the air that a racing athlete often suffers from is one tenth. The tire is a special material from Formula 1 racing to help the VeloX3 minimize air resistance, " said Lion.

He confirmed that the VeloX3 is not only the product of the research team of two Dutch universities but also the contributions of many businesses. At the competition in Nevada, another vehicle from the research team at two Dutch universities reached a speed of 127.43 km / h.
