High-tech 'plants' can filter out polluted air

With the ability to filter up to 260 tons of CO2, NO2 and fine dust, it can be said that this product is the solution to save the Earth in the future.

You may not see air pollution, but it causes more than 7 million people to die each year. Fortunately, a solution called CityTree , is a technological leaf wall that removes toxic particles and air-purifying equivalent to 275 urban greenery.

CityTree has appeared in major cities, such as Oslo, Paris, Brussels and Hong Kong on the main roads here. CityTree is not a real tree, it is just a leaf-shaped machine.

CityTree - technology leaf wall helps clean the air.

Zhengliang Wu, co-founder of Green City Solutions, said: 'These technology leaves have a larger surface area than natural leaves, meaning we will erase more pollutants.'

CityTree technology trees are 4 meters tall, about 3 meters wide and buried 2.19 meters deep. There are two versions, one with seats, two with information boards or advertisements.

Because of the large air exposed surface, each of these leaves can remove dust and nitrogen gas and ozone gas from the air. In addition, the operation is fully automated because they use energy from solar panels and rainwater. After being collected, rainwater will be poured into the nearby reservoir and pumped into the soil.

The invention also includes a sensor by wifi waves to measure soil moisture, temperature and water quality.

'We have sensors installed inside, which help monitor air quality at the plant site and plant performance , ' Wu said.

In one year, CityTrue removed 240 tons of CO 2 .

Every day, a CityTree can absorb 250 grams of toxic substances, and in a year, it will remove 240 tons of CO2. However, placing CityTree is in trouble from the local government.

"We put CityTree in Modena, Italy and now the city government is worried about these technology trees for security reasons," Wu said.

Even so, the company will still operate and soon introduce its invention to the country of India, where the level of air pollution has reached the threshold of dangerous alarms. So far, 20 CityTree have been installed in major cities around the world, including Oslo, Paris, Brussels and Hong Kong.

The total cost for each technology tree is about 25,000 USD. This is quite a large amount but is considered worthwhile by the ability to clean the air from hazardous substances of CityTree.
