Honor two species of trees in the World Red Book

On May 19, according to information from the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE), this organization has just coordinated with Thanh Hoa province to recognize heritage trees for pomu and samu in Xuan Nature Reserve. Lien (Thuong Xuan, Thanh Hoa).

These are the largest trees in the population of gymnosperms remaining in our country, which are rare and precious plants - recorded in the Vietnam Red Book and the world.

It is known that oil samu has a diameter of 3.9 meters, 45 meters high; Pomu tree has a diameter of 2.7 meters, 35 meters high, two trees are more than 1,000 years old. In Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, the number of individuals of these two species is not much, mainly distributed at altitudes above 800 meters above the sea surface.

Prof. Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh - Chairman of Vietnam Heritage Tree Council - said: 'After more than three years of development, there have been more than 500 trees in over 40 provinces and cities across regions of the country recognized. As a Vietnamese heritage tree, these trees will be strictly protected and 'special care'.
