Hot lava rivers like the Sun flow from Canada to Russia

A research team found that molten lava flows through 9000 and Russia, 420 km wide and nearly as high as the Sun.

Scientists have discovered a molten lava flow below the Earth's surface, stretching 9,000km from Canada to Russia, RT said on Dec. 21. It has a width of about 420km and a temperature close to the Sun.

"This discovery is an interesting step, helping to learn more about the inner workings of our planet," said Chris Finlay, co-author of the study.

The team observed the flow with support from the Swarm project of the European Space Agency. The project consists of three satellites that can calculate and decode magnetic field signals emitted from the Earth.

"Swarm's satellites provide the sharpest image of the Earth's core. Thus, we can see for the first time the flow and find out the reason for its existence , " said Dr. Phil Livermore, to from Leeds University, England, who is in charge of research and sharing.

Scientists have been monitoring the Earth's core for many years by measuring the planet's magnetic field. The results show that iron in the outer shell moves faster in the northern hemisphere, especially below Alaska and Siberia.

Through Swarm's satellite data, the team concludes that this speed change is caused by a lava flow moving more than 40km per year, hundreds of thousands times faster than the traveling speed of ants. create the Earth. The flow rate has also increased rapidly over the past two decades and has tripled only since 2000.

The team hopes this discovery will provide more information about the structure of the Earth's core and the planet's magnetic field origin.

"From there, we can learn how the magnetic field changes over time, as well as predicting when it will be stronger or vice versa," Livermore said.
