How did Koreans create the most invisible invisible tower in the world?
No need to rely on the skills of the virtual home of David Copperfield, a Korean skyscraper capable of disappearing on its own.
High-rise buildings have long played a role in showing the wealth and power of the country. Cities such as New York, London, Dubai and Shanghai are still continually building high-rise projects that boast of their development with the rest of the world.
Separating themselves from the size-measuring race, South Korea decided to build a unique tower to demonstrate the country's development philosophy and, above all, honor international architectural works as a mark common merit of humanity.
Tower Infinity Tower
Tower Infinity is the result of the 2008 architectural design competition. The GDS design competition contest has surpassed 145 other exams from 46 countries to gain the right to place their mark on the Korean capital. National.
It is expected that Tower Infinity tower will have a height of 450 m and occupy up to 145,000 m2 of area. With such a large project scale, the height of the tower is still very modest. The tallest tower is now Tokyo Skytree in the Japanese capital with a height of 634 m, while the tallest building in the world is still Burj Khalifa 830 m high.
This is entirely intentional, according to the GDS designer itself: " The tower implies a description of Korea's position in the international market. But instead of being arrogant, also Like Korea, Tower Infinity will "enter" into the surrounding environment and hide itself into the wallpaper ".
Apparently, the Korean government was impressed with the design when it granted permission to build a building right from September 2013.
How did the tower turn invisible?
Basically, the tower uses cameras to take pictures around the tower, "embroider" them together and show them on LED screens .
Similar to the Big Fish that can capture with the color sensor in the abdomen and "slide" them on their backs, Tower Infinity uses cameras to capture and project images via LED screens.
The camera is arranged at 3 different heights and covers all 6 sides of the tower, the collected images are shot in real time and processed in place to transmit images to the screen.
500 screen ranges will accurately display images on the back of the tower to create an "invisible" illusion for the observer. These LCD screens will have different brightness levels to customize your " transparency " level.
At 3 different floors, the image will be collected and "embroidered" into a single curtain.
However, this technology has a limit, as only when visitors stand at the right angle do they really experience the magic that the "infinite" tower brings. Specifically, one of the most ideal places to see the tower is from the famous Seoul bridge.
Tower Infinity wishes to honor the international development of all humanity
Visitors of Tower Infinity will enjoy a unique and interesting technology.
At different heights, the surrounding LED wall will display views of other towers in the world. As the elevator was gradually pulled up, viewers watched almost a demo of the experience that other towers in the world brought.
According to Michael Collins, representing the GDS in an interview: " This simulation is not intended to replace the landscape you can admire in other towers in the world. Our true purpose is to inspire people to visit those towers. "
The building will be built near Incheon airport to welcome visitors. The experience of the tower will not only represent Korea itself but will reinforce curiosity for visitors visiting other parts of the world.
"Instead of symbolizing the power of Korea in the international arena by altitude, Tower Infinity will be built to show the country's development in technology. And at the same time play the role of voice convergence. for international culture ".
Tower Infinity will be the main entertainment center of the area
According to GDS, it is not enough to allow users to admire the landscape and enjoy the unique experience of Tower Infinity. So their design will include entertainment areas equally as sophisticated as restaurants, cafes, 4D theaters.
Michael Collins talks about the "repertoire" he is most interested in: "I personally look forward to seeing the Sky-Walk Outdoor Garden. Visitors will be walking in the garden on the trail of helix stretching 285 m to 320 m ".
The tower itself was a work worth visiting. But the project will converge more high-end entertainment venues.
Tower Infinity will surely become one of the places to visit that cannot be ignored once it launches. But despite having received a construction permit since 2013, so far, the project has not really entered the actual construction phase.
However, from the beginning of this year, the project has started to have official announcements about construction commencement and is expected to be completed after 4 years.
