How to make compost at home

Step 1: Select a compost container

In order to follow the steps for making compost at home, you first need to prepare the container. Use plastic containers, wooden crates . the crate must be relatively large, preferably between 20-120 liters.

Step 2: Locate the appropriate plastic container

Because it is a compost container, it will cause odor, the first thing you need to do is choose a place far away from where you live and can access more sunlight to speed up the decomposition process.

Step 3: Garbage classification, choose the waste to make compost at home

For green plants to grow fast and healthily, you need to provide the plants with the necessary nutrients, including carbon and nitrogen are two indispensable substances, which are abundant in organic waste. Step 4: How to mix organic waste

After classifying green manure, brown manure and other types of waste to avoid, we should proceed as follows : Apply 10cm of brown manure then spread a thin layer of green manure and then 10cm of brown manure. Mix the mixture well then incubate for 2 weeks then start watering the composted mixture to prevent watering. After watering, continue to mix the mixture, spread a brown layer of fertilizer on the surface of the mixture to fill the container.

Check the humidity: Use the handle of organic waste if you see water leaking through your fingers, we need to add straw or hay to balance the amount of water in the organic waste. If you hold it open, you will see that rubbish and disjointed means that the garbage lacks moisture and needs to be replenished with water. If the mixture is sticky, the humidity is satisfactory.

By now you just need to wait about 30 days for the compost to decompose into compost. Composting compost has the following characteristics:

2. There is a smell of soil
3. Compost breaks down and looks like humus, meaning that home-made compost is completely decomposed and can be used.
