Hubble captures the scene of two bodies colliding
Based on an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists believe that collisions in the universe are no longer hypotheses.
The newly discovered object was named P / 2010 A2, 144 million kilometers from Earth, within the belt of asteroids located between Mars and Jupiter.
On January 29, Hubble captured the P / 2010 A2 image that was traveling at a speed of about 17,000 km / h (5 times the speed of the bullet fired from the gullied barrel).
Initially, scientists thought that P / 2010 A2 was a comet. However, the center of this object shines around, completely different from the usual image of a comet.

'This seems to be the result of a collision between two asteroids. Perhaps this is the first case where we have recorded collisions in the universe , 'said astronomer David Jewitt, University of California, USA.
Scientists believe that, 65 million years ago, a meteorite plunged into the earth caused the giant dinosaurs to die. Therefore, astronomers are very interested in tracking collisions in the universe to promptly prevent.
Currently, NASA gathers information about about 1,000 celestial bodies with a radius of 1-5 km moving around the earth.
