Huge blue cloud in the sky

With a length of nearly 10 trillion km, a giant cloud of gas in the universe has the same shape as the flying blue worm.

The Hubble Space Telescope has discovered "cosmic worm" at about 4,500 light-years from Earth. According to scientists from the US Aeronautics Agency (NASA), it is a gas cloud about a light-year long (about 10 trillion km), Space reported.

IRAS 20324 + 4057 , the name of the giant gas cloud , is located in the constellation Swan. It is in the process of collapsing inside by its gravity to produce a star. This is a race against time, because the old stars glow in the gas themselves against the birth of the new star.

About 65 extremely hot and bright stars are "hiding" near the gas. Although astronomers say the stars are close to the gas, they are actually 15 light-years apart. Viewers can see them on the right. A strong cosmic wind is coming from those stars, along with 500 stars with lower brightness, making the gas smaller.

The cloud is also against those "star clusters " . It draws air around to compensate for the gas lost by cosmic winds. Scientists don't know if it absorbs enough air to compensate for the lost gas. If the answer is "no", the star that the cloud is about to be born is a light object. In the opposite case, it will be a heavy object.
