Particularly on April 4, in Hoang Thuan and Dao San communes in Phong Tho (Lai Chau) border district, whirlwinds made hundreds of houses speed.

In Hoang Thu commune, the whirlwind of tornado also broke more than 600 rubber trees planted in smallholder farms since 2006 and started to exploit latex for more than two years.

Due to the influence of the high wind convergence area, hail accompanied by strong winds occur simultaneously in three areas: Lai Chau City, Nam Nhun and Sin Ho border districts, causing serious damage to property.

In Nam Nhun border district, there are more than 50 houses that have been roofless; Sin Ho border district has more than 20 houses, the school is roofed; Lai Chau city also has 6 houses that have been roofed.

Also in the morning of April 4, in some places of Dien Bien province, there was a heavy rain accompanied by a whirlwind, where hailstorms with great intensity occurred. According to initial information, hail, whirlwind caused a wounded person, collapsed some temporary houses, died many poultry and caused damage to agricultural production.

Flooding caused Highway 4H route (from Muong Cha district to Muong Nhe district) at 2 locations from km18-km24 and km45 with mud and rock down to 50cm thick, causing traffic congestion.

According to Mr. Luong Thanh Tung, Director of Road Management Joint Stock Company 2 immediately after the congestion occurred, the unit mobilized machinery and workers on site to handle landslides. After 45 minutes, these positions have been processed and cleared for traffic.
