Ice in the Arctic down to a record low
According to polar American experts, the Arctic ice has reached a record low. The cause of this phenomenon is mainly due to the situation of global warming.
In his report, scientist William Chapman and colleagues at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana said that Arctic ice has dropped to its lowest level around 30 days before the most melting ice every year (often see in the first or second week of September).
Chapman also said that the ice covered in the Arctic this summer is 25-30% lower than the average of 50 years ago.
Scientists say geographically, the ice decline this year took place faster than in previous years. In the past, ice depletion occurred only in limited areas, such as the North Atlantic, Bering Sea, Beaufort Sea . This year, melting ice occurred on the entire Arctic region.
