Illnesses and child accidents often encounter Tet

The weather of Tet holiday this year is quite cold, making children more susceptible to respiratory and allergic diseases; vigilance of food accidents, airway allergies, burns .

Doctor, Dr. Didier Decamps, Clinic Medical Director Daisy advised parents to pay more attention to the health of their children in the last days of this year. In particular, the forecast of Tet holiday this year will be colder than the previous years, plus the disturbance of daily activities, food and drinks in the early days of spring, making children more susceptible to disease. Talking to parents in Ho Chi Minh City last weekend, Dr. Didier Decamps shared some ways to prevent and manage common diseases and accidents in children as follows:

1. Colds

The initial symptoms of the disease are throat irritation, runny nose, sneezing, headache, mild fever, fatigue, anorexia. When you have a cold, a child or wheezing, a runny nose, the nose may turn from a liquid with a clear to more dense yellow or green color. With a common cold, children will recover within a week. When children have more severe symptoms such as coughing cough, shortness of breath, prolonged high fever, earache . parents should take their baby to the doctor as soon as possible.

To prevent this disease, it is necessary to keep the child warm, pay attention to hygiene, especially after blowing his nose. Do not let your child touch the person who is having colds. Children should not be kept close to people who are smoking because if they have a cold, the rhino virus can spread out under the smoke and spread the disease to the baby.

2. Asthma

Sometimes snoring is normal, but if it happens more than 4 times a week, parents should think about the possibility of a child with asthma. When you have asthma, your baby will wheeze despite not having a disease or sinus problem. Some asthma patients have the only manifestation of coughing, especially at midnight and morning.

The cold air in Tet season makes asthma worse. In addition, when traveling spring with family, exposure to dust and smoke also makes children more uncomfortable. To prevent abnormal asthma attacks, parents should pay attention to keeping warm, giving them immediate contact with warm air after bathing. Limit the triggers of asthma attacks such as indoor odorants, cigarette smoke, no contact with pets, smoke, keep your home clean, avoid allergy-causing young foods like seafood.

3. Diarrhea, constipation

Overcharging delicious "but not good" foods on Tet holidays or eating overnight food is the main cause of diarrhea and constipation. On this occasion, children have a habit of eating 'geogee' , overcharging meat, carbonated drinks, fast food without eating vegetables, not paying attention to hygiene problems also easily cause diarrhea. In addition to an unbalanced eating habit, it is also the cause of constipation when the child goes to the toilet or is not familiar with the toilet.

In order to prevent these common gastrointestinal disorders, parents should pay attention to controlling baby food intake, limiting oily fried foods, patties, sausages, avoiding eating food to stay overnight, holding hands always clean. When the child is not able to go to the toilet as usual, parents should ask if the baby has any problems to avoid bowel movements leading to severe constipation.

4. Hand and foot and mouth

Hand and foot and mouth disease are contagious diseases when children come to public places, especially in amusement parks on Tet holiday. The disease can be spread by droplets from the respiratory tract, through contaminated surfaces. Parents need to recognize the early symptoms of the disease are young high fever (from 38 to 39 degrees C), anorexia, cough, sore throat, abdominal pain. Usually after 1 or 2 days, there will be signs of mouth ulcers, rash, vesicles on hands and feet. Then take your child to the doctor immediately.

To prevent this disease, it is best to regularly wash your hands with antibacterial soap. When traveling outside, make sure your child eats enough nutrients to increase their resistance, avoid using hands, sucking on food, contacting people who are sick or suspected of being infected.

5. Hormones

Candy, melon seeds, chestnuts, sunflower seeds are snacks used by many Vietnamese families during Tet holidays. Children are prone to choking, if they do not know how to eat, eat in a hurry or laugh while eating. Therefore, if children want to eat these nuts, it is best for parents to separate or instruct them to peel and eat slowly, avoiding sucking in the mouth and going out or running.

Some parents have a habit of poking fun so that they obediently open their mouths to eat, but the doctor recommends not to do so because the baby is prone to choking. Besides, it is necessary to avoid feeding children when crying because it is easy to cause difficulty breathing or choking very dangerous.

6. Burns

Children are prone to burns due to boiling water, porridge, soup, cooking oil, iron, motorbike when parents neglect to look after. Young skin is inherently young so burns can cause deep damage, even infection and necrosis.

To prevent burns, parents should pay attention to placing heat sources such as stoves, dryers, hot food out of the reach of children. Need to provide knowledge to help children understand the dangerous objects causing burns so that children can avoid themselves, not letting them arbitrarily use hot water when bathing.
