In the universe, the boomerang still flies back
In an unprecedented experiment, a Japanese astronaut threw a boomerang into space, and confirmed that it was still flying again, very much like on earth.
Astronaut Takao Doi did this experiment on March 18 on the International Space Station, a spokesman for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said.
Doi threw the boomerang after asking from fellow countryman Yasuhiro Togai, a world boomerang champion. " He was surprised to see it fly in the same way as it did on earth, " Mainichi Shimbun quoted the 53-year-old astronaut while chatting with his wife from space.
The video of the experiment may be published later. Doi was on the shuttle Endeavor of the United States, taking off on March 11, and successfully installed Japan's first laboratory into the International Station.
