Inauguration of a biosafety laboratory

On March 24, the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology TU has put into use a biosafety laboratory. Thus, it is possible to develop in-depth research on dangerous viruses.

The laboratory is within the framework of a project to build a third-level biosafety laboratory funded by the Japanese Government. The work consists of four main laboratories: diagnostic room, research room, preparation room, animal room; and four related laboratories: electrophoresis and three PCR rooms (RNA extraction room, chemical preparation room, DNA amplification room).

The inclusion of standard laboratories will contribute to strengthening the institute's capacity to ensure biosecurity for laboratory workers, the environment and the community in the process of testing dangerous pathogens. dangerous. At the same time, contribute to improving the capacity of Vietnam's preventive health system for research, monitoring and control of new dangerous and re-emerging infectious diseases in Vietnam.

In the coming time, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology can develop in-depth studies on viruses causing dangerous diseases, such as evaluating the progress of influenza A / H5N1 virus or understanding the resistance of Tamiflu to this virus.
