Nearly 1 million USD improve biosecurity management
The project "Improving management and control of biosafety and biosecurity in Vietnam" was signed on December 13, in Hanoi, between Mr. Stale Torstein Risa, Royal Norwegian Ambassador in Vietnam and Mr. Nguyen Tran Hien, Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

From now until December 2012, the Royal Norwegian Embassy will support nearly 990,000 USD to improve biosafety and biosecurity management capacity for the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Lung Trung Hospital nursing and Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City).
DNV (Norway) is the technical support unit for implementing the activities of this project. Most of the funding is used to improve biosafety and biosecurity management capabilities for staff working at level 3 biosafety laboratories at the three units mentioned above.
In particular, the project also devotes funding to improve the capacity of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the evaluation, assessment and monitoring of biosafety at level 2 biosafety laboratories and level 3 across the country .
