Improve your mood by learning to dance

A study in Sweden showed that female teenagers after attending a dance course improved their sadness and constant fatigue, according to myhealthnewsdaily.

The subject of the study was 112 adolescent girls aged 13 to 18 years. These subjects are poorly receptive, often depressed and constantly feeling tired.

However, these symptoms are not serious enough to require psychological treatment.

Scientists randomly selected these subjects to take part in a 75-minute dance session, two sessions a week. This class lasts 8 months in the first 2 years of the 3-year study.

Scientists find out how young women self-assess their health before taking a dance course, every 3 months after attending a dance course and after finishing the course.

Female teenagers who take part in the dance course self-assess that they are making better health progress than the group that does not attend the course. In teenage girls who attend dance courses, 91% say this is a positive experience.

Scientists think there may be many reasons to improve the health of female teenagers when participating in this course. It may be because the course is fun, there is no pressure like being in school, being exposed to music and maybe having new friends.

The study shows the important role of playful social activities on human health, according to scientist Anna Duberg from the Health Care Center (Sweden), who led the study.

The study was published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
