Intel spends 250 million USD to settle the latest lawsuit
Intel has agreed to pay $ 250 million to Transmeta to settle lawsuits that violate the energy management and chip design patents over the past five years.
The arrangement also means that Intel has the right to integrate Transmeta's technologies for its chip products within 10 years under a separate agreement and the two sides agree that they will not continue to sue each other.
According to the agreement, Intel will pay Transmeta a sum of $ 150 million, the rest will pay $ 20 million annually (for five consecutive years).
In the past, Transmeta and Intel have repeatedly sued each other and the latest was in October 2006 when Transmeta sued Intel to a federal court, alleging it violated 10 patents of protected patent .
According to Transmeta, Intel has marketed a volume of $ 100 billion Pentium chips using its proprietary technologies. Transmeta once asked the court to order Intel to stop selling offending chip products and demanded compensation from the company.
