Apple integrated Core 2 Duo chip for iMacs
Apple Computer Inc. September 6 announced the new iMac line with the latest Intel processor - Core 2 Duo.
The new Core 2 Duo was released by Intel last summer, faster than the Intel integrated chips for the iMac and previous Macintosh computers.
Also on September 6, Apple unveiled a new version of its consumer desktop line - the 24-inch, 2.16-GHz iMac screen, retailing at $ 1,999.
Apple also raised the processing speed of both Mac mini models and the price remained the same - $ 599 and $ 799. This Mac mini series is integrated with a dual-core chip instead of a single-core chip as before.
Apple has decided to upgrade the iMac and Mac mini series to gain market share from Microsoft-based PCs running Windows.
