Infants have an important position in the Stone Age

The discovery of two ancient tombs dating to 27,000 years containing the bodies of newborn babies confirms that young children also occupy an important place in the society of hunters and stone age gatherers. old.

The team led by Christine Neugebauer-Maresch of the Vienna Academy of Sciences (Austria) discovered two old Stone Age tombs.

In the first grave, there were two months old babies covered in red lipstick, one of them had small ivory string beads. Their grave is protected by a mammoth shoulder blade that rests on an ivory piece. Based on the size of the femur, the researchers concluded that these two babies were the same age and could have twins. The second tomb contains a 3-month-old child.

The tombstone of an old Stone Age has been discovered, but this is the first time researchers have found a grave of babies. The above rituals show that babies are also completely regarded as members of the community.
