Intelligent carpets help people fall off
The magic carpet is not only to fly, but also to recognize when someone falls. A team at the University of Manchester (UK) has created a fiber-optic mat, capable of sensing and understanding human moves in real time.

These optical fibers send information to a tiny electronic device at the edge of the rug to analyze human movement to detect changes that indicate a person may slip or fall suddenly.
Next, the computer monitors the human walk and detects when someone has an unusual move. This information can be sent to the medical help center to alert someone who has just had a clot.
These smart carpets can help track the movement of the elderly or use it as a therapy to improve the patient's balance.
The research team introduced the magic carpet at this year's Photon conference in Durham, England.
