Introducing food bags can be self-destruct and cook

Every day we are discharging to the environment a large number of food packaging such as shrimp noodle packaging, prepared food wrapping paper, milk container . If not made of manure materials canceled, these packages will become a major threat to the environment.

To solve that problem, a Swedish company invented a new type of degradable packaging that could even cook food.

Tomorrow Machine's Hannah Billqvist and Anna Glansén have started a project in 2012, called "This Too Shall Pass" (that will pass away) to study a decomposing food packaging, along with the ability to self-cook food.

The food will be cooked directly inside the packaging and it will open itself when the food has reached a certain temperature. This packaging can be easily disposed of after use. Named the Sustainable Expanding Bowl , this bowl is made up of cellulose fibers and contains frozen food inside. Just add boiling water to the food inside will be cooked and make the packaging itself open into a bowl shape.

Tomorrow Machine is also in the early stages of developing another new packaging, made from natural materials that can be easily decomposed or dissolved in water.

The drinking water box in the picture below is made of a mixture of agar (a glue made by boiling a polysaccharide in red algae) and water. When the drink inside has been sucked out, the box will begin to shrink. It almost disappeared completely after just one month.

There is also a type of packaging for dry items like rice or noodles made from processed beeswax. This wax is as thin as paper and can peel off like an orange peel.

Besides, Tomorrow Machine also developed an environmentally friendly liquid container (dipping sauce). This caramel sugar box is coated with beeswax and can be opened by smashing like chicken eggs. It only takes a few minutes for the sugar layer to dissolve into the water, which means that it is easy to handle waste from now on.

However, many people may not like to break the box's fragments out of their bowl to avoid affecting the taste. Anyway, at this time, all kinds of packaging are still prototypes and can be completely changed to market soon.
