Scientists crushed seaweed and mixed it with enzymes, then added a special yeast to ferment them. After about two weeks, each kilogram of seaweed can produce about 200ml of ethanol.

According to the scientists, compared to the complex treatment process in previous stages, this new technology can make seaweed directly fermented, moreover in the process of processing not to add substances harm.

Bio-ethanol is a kind of clean energy, through microbial fermentation to convert organisms into ethanol fuel. However, its raw materials are mostly economic crops like corn and sugarcane.

This new technology is not only beneficial for environmental protection, but also can aid in food problems.
