Jupiter will reach its brightest today

Tonight, Jupiter will reach its maximum brightness in the year. This is an opportunity for astronomers to see clearly the largest planet of the solar system.

At that time, Jupiter was in the position opposite to the sun across the earth, meaning that the earth would lie almost exactly on the connection between the sun and the planet, so the observed light was best.

According to Astronomy , Jupiter will glow to a record of -2.9 near its extreme brightness of -2.94, brighter than any other light in the sky, even Sirius - is the star The brightest in the sky, it also peaked at a intensity of -1.46.

Dang Vu Tuan Son, chairman of the Vietnam Young Astronomical Club, said astronomers can observe the planet from sunset on this afternoon (about 6am) until the sun goes down, because Jupiter will spring up at sunset and be present continuously until the end of the night.

According to Tuan Son, Jupiter grows in the west and dives in the east so it is easy to identify, it is the brightest star, so it is convenient to observe.

Mr. Tuan Son gave advice, observers can use the naked eye or astronomical instruments. Even when it is less cloudy, people still observe the bright planet in the sky, except when it is cloudy or rainy, making it difficult to observe.

"If with the help of small telescopes, viewers will have the opportunity to see the meteorite belt quite faint around this planet as well as its four large satellites including Ganimede, Europa, Io and Calisto" , Tuan Son said.

Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System and the fifth planet from the sun. This giant gas planet is made up of hydrogen and helium gas, surrounding a core containing heavier elements. Jupiter's mass is twice the total mass of the remaining 7 planets in the solar system. It has 1,235 times the volume and 318 times the volume of the globe.
