The Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers (MIT) have discovered a new, Earth-sized planet named Kepler 78b.
Kepler 78b only takes an hour and a half to complete his year, according to a press release on the MIT website.
To achieve this tremendous velocity, the planet moves in orbit very close to the central star, nearly 40 times more than Mercury - the sun.
At this distance, it can be imagined how hot Kepler 78b 's surface temperature must be.
MIT assistant professor Josh Winn estimates that temperatures can reach 2,727 degrees Celsius, compared to about 427 degrees Celsius in the hottest parts of Mercury's surface.
Therefore, despite the size of Earth, Kepler 78b is not a Second Earth candidate, according to the Register.
