Land in Afghanistan killed 350 people and 2,000 people were missing

A landslide after heavy rains buried the northeastern village of Afghanistan on Friday (May 2), leaving 2,000 people missing. Currently, at least 350 people are identified as dead.

The AP quoted Mr Faziluddin Hayar, the regional police chief, that the landslide occurred around 13pm yesterday (May 2) in the village of Hobo Barik, Agro district, Badakshan province.

Badakhshan governor said more than 2,000 people are still missing after the hill collapsed in the village of Hobo Barik. In addition, the landslide also buried about 300 houses in the village, accounting for one third of the total house of Hobo Barik village.

Currently, rescue teams are quickly searching for missing people but they do not have the necessary tools.

Mr. Adeeb said: "Currently we do not have enough shovels and we need more machines."

In addition, the government has also moved people in the area to a safer place due to fear that landslides may continue.

Badakhshan is one of the remote areas of Afghanistan. This area had to suffer the most serious landslide in February 2010, killing more than 170 victims.
