Many vegetables are less meat - eat to live longer

Reducing the consumption of a protein found in meat and fish will help slow down the aging process and increase life expectancy, a new study has just confirmed.

Scientists have long believed that low-calorie (about 60% compared to normal) diets can help prolong people's lifespan. Many research works on animals, including monkeys, show that reducing dietary intake by 30% can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer by half, and increase 1/3 of life expectancy.

But now, a British research group has discovered that the key to this effect is to reduce the use of a specific protein - methionine - rather than reducing the diet.

That means that by eating fewer foods containing this protein (like fish, meat and nuts) - people will live longer without cutting the total amount of meals in general.

While the work of the British science group has just stopped on fruit flies, the group believes that in other animals, including humans, there will be the same reaction.

Speaking on the Telegraph, Dr. Matthew Piper, from the Institute of Aging Health at the University of London, said the vegetarian diet may be a way to achieve this effect.
