50 sharks "gathered" into swarms
The staff working at the Medmerry nature reserve near Chichester in West Sussex (England) were shocked when they saw about 50 sharks swimming in the shallow waters nearby, many of them as long as 1, 5 meters.
These fish are known as Smooth-hound sharks . The staff here thought they were swimming near the shore to eat crabs and mollusks, then turned it into their home. Smooth-hound sharks often follow flocks and almost no teeth. That's why they usually only eat small animals in the sea without attacking humans.
Earlier, in June, several sharks were also seen at the Medmerry reserve. However, the appearance of sharks with the number of up to 50 this time was assessed by the staff as unprecedented.
The video recorded the scene of sharks swimming close to shallow water.
