Marvel's two strongest metals on the scale of comparison

The MCU movies have introduced audiences to two super metals, Adamantium and Vibranium. But which is the stronger material?

Vibranium is a resource that powers the kingdom of Wakanda or Talokan. Meanwhile, Adamantium is known as the material that makes up Wolverine's claws, a deadly weapon.

Both are the most powerful metals Marvel Studios has ever brought to the screen. They are invaluable assets that forces constantly kill to compete.

Vibranium

First appearing in Captain America: The First Avenger , Vibranium was introduced by Howard Stark as an extraterrestrial material . It wasn't until Black Panther that audiences got a better understanding of this metal.

According to history, a large meteorite filled with Vibranium crashed to Earth millions of years ago. The radiation it emitted transformed the plants and surrounding land, creating the Heart-Shaped Herb that could give Black Panther superhuman strength.

According to Marvelfandom, if properly tempered through a combination of magic and science, Vibranium can amplify mystical energy. Its ability to absorb energy almost limitlessly makes it the perfect weapon in the hands of its wielder. If someone can master the secret to using magically charged vibranium, they will become extremely powerful.

An extremely rare metal , Vibranium is harder than steel, and is almost indestructible because all physical damage is negated at the molecular level. It can absorb a variety of physical impacts, even bullets do not cause any damage, it can even withstand the Hulk's punch or Thor's hammer blow.

Vibranium is also super elastic. This is what allows Captain America's shield to bounce back after being thrown. Additionally, the metal can be crafted to incorporate into architecture, clothing, weapons, and other objects, acting as a source of magical energy.

However, Vibranium still has some minor limitations. Its durability is also limited. The energy from the Mind Stone in Vision's forehead, combined with Iron Man's repulsors and the lightning from Mjolnir can melt the outer layer of Vibranium.

Scarlet Witch can also use her powers to manipulate and destroy this material. In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos' double-edged sword also broke Cap's shield. Additionally, this material is also unstable when transported at high speeds.

Vibranium in its nano form is also very vulnerable to sonic devices . In the final battle scene of Black Panther, sonic technology was able to weaken Vibranium and even deform T'Challa and Killmonger's suits.

Adamantium

Adamantium appears in comics and movies as a man-made alloy. It has many variations in the comics, with the earliest form being used as a hybrid metal with Vibranium to create Captain America's shield. However, there is only one version of Adamantium metal in the movies.

According to Marvel, Adamantium is most malleable when heated and kept in liquid form . Once hardened, it can withstand most forms of physical impact. Additionally, it is bulletproof and can cut through other metals, with the exception of Cap's shield.

William Stryker in the X-men series developed it and used it on Wolverine in experiments. Although it helped Wolverine become a near-immortal 'weapon', it also caused his ability to heal himself to gradually decline and he had to deal with many different diseases.

In addition to Wolverine's skeleton and claws, Adamantium is also the material that makes up the Ultron armor, the claws of Sabretooth, X-23, and Lady Deathstrike. Besides, it is the Silver Samurai robot of Yashida Ichirō in The Wolverine (2013).

Like Vibranium, Adamantium is not perfect . It is quite sensitive to Magneto's metal manipulation. He can even bend it to his will. In The Wolverine, the Silver Samurai's superheated blade also cut off all six of Logan's claws. That proves that Adamantium, although harder than Vibranium, can still be destroyed.

Therefore, Vibranium can be said to be 'nine out of ten' with Adamantium when compared. If Adamantium is superior to its opponent in terms of hardness, Vibranium has the advantage of being more flexible and diverse. If Adamantium is weakened by temperature, Vibranium is overcome by sound.

However, if a battle between Black Panther (who uses Vibranium) and Wolverine (who uses Adamantium) broke out, the victory would be more inclined towards Wolverine. Because Vibranium is almost useless when facing Wolverine's immortal body.
