Mechanic fabricates rice harvesters from waste products

From scraps and motor scooters, the mechanic has built a reaper, helping farmers save a lot of money in the process of making rice grains.

Mr. Truong Minh Hai, 56 years old, resided in Block 10, Bac Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City, was born in a farmer family, since he was attached to a buffalo, grass and rice. After finishing high school, he studied mechanics and worked with Irrigation Company 4 until he retired in 2000.

Being diligent and active, he went home to open a mechanical workshop and repair motorcycles. His workshop and three workers always filled with broken machinery, grease and motorbikes.

Always removable, always moving in the workshop, Mr. Hai said, in 2009 adopted the intention to make a harvester because at that time not everyone can afford to rent. Once in a while, some people in Cam Xuyen district brought broken motorbikes to repair. After finishing, holding the motor set abandoned, Mr. Hai wondered: why not take advantage of iron and steel, this engine to make rice harvesters.

Thinking of doing, in the process of repairing the car, he gathered the damaged machinery engines and went to see the crushes, to the mechanical stores to buy iron and steel waste to be manufactured. During the day, repairing machines for customers, free time and night, he worked hard to research the dream machine. Drunken, sometimes when he ate, Mr. Hai left meals. After 5 months, the first harvester under the skillful hand of a mechanic was born and tested in the summer of 2009.

According to this "engineer" , the biggest difficulty in the process is that there is no field to test the machine. Many days he had to go to the field, asking the farmers to reap the test. Some people even look at the computer and don't believe it is reaping because the structure is so simple. At the time the machine worked smoothly, the harvest was successful, many new people were wow.

After the crop in 2009, Mr. Hai received many orders, there were those who listened to the dive from remote provinces to order, he refused to sell. Mr. Hai explained, because he had just been tested, he could not sell it, he could not afford to buy it. But every coming season, who asked or hired, he brought the machine to the field to help.

"A continuous harvester with a market price of 38 million VND, a harvest of 180,000 VND / sao. Self-made machine costs 7 million, the harvest is 30,000 VND / sao. About three households share one The machine is very good, saving costs compared to going to rent , "Hai said.

The structure of the machine is quite simple, 1.2m wide, 2.5m long, 80cm high, weighing 100kg, in front are sharp teeth, the body is made of corrugated iron and hard iron. Inside is a motorcycle engine, connected by spinning chains around the shaft. Wheels are also welded, made from iron. It is reapable to pour gasoline into the engine.

The advantage of this harvester is that it makes use of discarded machinery and steel, and especially when malfunctioning motorists can easily fix it. Moreover, the machine can be reaped in the small, deep fields where the continuous harvester cannot access.

'The area where I grow rice is a low-lying area, the other harvesters are quite difficult, but Mr. Hai's reaping machine is easy to access and reaping fast, in 30 minutes, he harvested 3 sao. After a few harvests, I found that the machine cost less fuel, the price is also reasonable, so I am cherished to order one , 'said Nguyen Thinh, Cam Huy commune, Cam Xuyen district.

Many times his wife and children blame him for worrying that Mr. Hai, who has been working heavily with machines and oil, will affect his health, but the farmer's "engineer" only laughs: his job is soaked in blood, how can he do it? ; I still have strength, but I still need to walk.

To date, Mr. Hai has launched 3 rice harvesters and invented more machines such as a soil plowing machine for Tea Farm 20/4, Huong Khe district. The product of his harvester was attended by the Inventor program organized by VTV2. In addition, this "engineer" has been awarded a certificate of merit for scientific achievements by Ha Tinh City People's Committee.

"Minh Hai is a very passionate inventor, good creativity. The products are always participating in the provincial and national competitions, there are some products that are applied and highly effective in real life. " , Director of Ha Tinh Department of Science and Technology Do Khoa Van said.

The mechanic always watches the harvester carefully every day and wants it to be perfect. However, the funds are limited so he cannot buy more materials to replicate the model."I do not have people to study, if anyone takes over, I am willing to yield, share the know-how, the fabrication so that the harvester can be improved , " Hai said.
