Turn straw into fertilizer, save thousands of billion dong
The research and application of biotechnology science and technology into the treatment of agricultural waste is considered the right direction , ensuring sustainable agricultural production in the context of the field is at risk of being polluted. Infection and 'poisoning' by people abusing chemical fertilizers for plants.
Turn rice straw into organic fertilizer
According to statistics, in Vietnam, 70% of the population works in agriculture and rice is the main crop, so the amount of straw after harvest is very large, about 46 million tons / year. The surplus of rice straw treated by farmers by burning immediately on the field has polluted the living environment and the field ecosystem, especially in rural areas.
Therefore, to contribute to reducing pollution of research topics: 'Microbial products (Fito-Biomix RR) to treat rice straw and the process of treating straw into organic fertilizer using this product' applied and the National Office of Intellectual Property - Ministry of Science and Technology granted a patent for utility solution No. 956 to author Le Van Tri - General Director of Hanoi Biotechnology Joint Stock Company.
The project includes many successful research and testing projects in many different localities such as Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen and Hanoi . which bring significant economic benefits, Agricultural experts and farmers appreciate it.
The process of turning straw into organic fertilizer is carried out through steps, freshly harvested straw is piled up with a width of 2m, each layer 30cm to water a number of Fito-Biomix RR preparations, supplemented Add NPK and manure if available.
Farmers will not have to pay for chemical fertilizers when
There are organic fertilizers made from straw after harvest.
After that, rice straw was incubated by using nylon, tarpaulins, torn loads, covered mud to ensure the tempering temperature from 45-50 degrees Celsius. After 10 to 15 days, the date of checking and turning was carried out. This makes straw more debris due to mechanical impact, ensuring moisture as well as temperature of the pile is always in optimal level, facilitating the process of straw decomposition takes place quickly and thoroughly.
During the incubation process, if there is no guarantee of moisture, add additional water to completely disinfect the material. After 25 to 30 days, straw decomposes well into organic compost.
According to the author, the quality of rice straw after 30 days of incubation with a well-decomposed Fito-Biomix RR, turned brown, bacteria, mold growth well, rice straw decomposed about 80-85%.
The pile of straw is supplemented with microorganisms and nutrients, after 30 days, the total carbon content decreases, protein content, effective phosphorus, the density of microorganisms increases. After incubation, organic fertilizer from rice straw is used immediately for the next crop or for storage for later use.
Detoxification for the field
According to the scientists, after each harvest of 1 ha of rice, 6 tons of straw will be collected, if it is burned, it will lose more than 5.5 million VND, while the same amount of straw will be treated if Probiotics will yield about 400kg of organic fertilizer.
Master Le Van Tri, chairman of the project, said that when applying this type of organic fertilizer to rice, corn chemical fertilizer decreased by 20-30%, crop yield increased by 10-15%, contributing to saving production costs and increasing economic value for farmers.
If all the harvested straw of the whole country (about 45 million tons) is processed will bring about 20 million tons of organic fertilizer, farmers do not have to spend 200,000 tons of fertilizer (NPK) to buy fertilizer, 190,000 tons of phosphate and 460,000 tons of potassium, thus saving nearly 11,000 billion VND.
In addition to the economic benefits, the use of biological products such as Fito-Biomix RR to treat straw into organic compost for crops will make use of surplus post-harvest products to supplement fertilizer. Organic in place, saving costs and creating habits for people not to burn straw after harvest, protect the environment, increase soil fertility and improve productivity and quality of crops.
In the process of sustainable agricultural development, organic fertilizer is considered as a leading factor to improve product quality as well as improve soil fertility. Moreover, the tendency of small-scale farming in households is almost no longer available, so the demand for organic fertilizer from rice straw is huge.
Currently, the project team has proposed to develop a long-term plan to take advantage of the amount of straw, surplus straw after harvest of organic fertilizer to return to the land what the crops have taken, improved soil, increase soil humus content, increase soil porosity, stabilize pH, make soil better to cultivate rice, reduce pests, do not use toxic pesticides, create products safe rice.
This work needs to be replicated in many localities across the country, combining the forms of technology transfer research, extensive propaganda to change the habits of using chemical fertilizers in cultivation of people. , take advantage of available materials and bring economic benefits, while contributing to protecting the environment and ecological fields.
