Research by the University of St Andrew, published in Perception magazine, surveyed a group of students aged 18 to 26.

In it, the boys were asked to rate 84 girls through their photos, about their appeal and health. These girls also have to answer many health questions, measure blood pressure.

As a result, young people group the girls with "average" weight that are most attractive and healthy, compared to the hard-working or oversized girls.

The team said the finding sent a strong message to young girls who always believed that being skinny was considered attractive.

Professor David Perrett, a member of the survey team, said: " A message for young people is to maintain a normal weight and to bring health benefits and improve appearance ".

" Young people do not appreciate thin girls. They like girls with moderate weight, " he said.
