Microsoft tested the Mac Office 2008 version
Microsoft has begun testing the next version of Office for Mac, which is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.
Office 2008 for Mac is important not only for the Macintosh community but also for Microsoft. This is the first version of Office to run on both Intel-based Macs and Power PC chips. In addition, the Mac Office 2008 edition adds support for the XML file format, introduced by Microsoft in the Windows version of Office 2007.
Microsoft did not disclose how many people will participate in the trial of the Office 2008 version, as well as when the beta will be released publicly. However, according to the company representative, Microsoft plans to complete the Mac Office 2007 version around the second half of this year.
In addition to the biggest changes of Office 2008 version compatibility, the version for this Mac also has a few new features. One of these is the program called My Day, which provides quick access to calendar information without having to access the Entourage e-mail program. In addition, the console of Word and Excel also changed significantly.
The time to develop Mac Office 2008 version has been longer than Microsoft regulations. Normally, developing a Mac Office version takes only 18-24 months. The version of Mac Office 2004 was released by Microsoft in April 2004.
