According to the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health), up to now, Vietnam's health system has tested 2,672 samples of specimens in 45 provinces and cities, in which 3 cases of Zika have been detected. These are 3 patients who do not have a history of going back from the epidemic, which shows that Vietnam has circulated Zika virus in the community. The results of gene sequencing showed that the virus samples of patients in Khanh Hoa were of Asian origin and the virus samples of patients in Ho Chi Minh City originated from the Americas. In addition, there are 3 cases of foreign citizens incubating diseases during their stay in Vietnam. Therefore, in the future, Vietnam may continue to record new cases.

At the meeting, the Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said that in order to prevent Zika disease, the Ministry of Health and related ministries and agencies continue to monitor the entry of passengers, especially the cases. go back from the epidemic zone; promote Zika surveillance at medical facilities, and take samples for testing if in doubt. Currently, the Ministry of Health has also increased the use of Trioplex diagnostic test to monitor and screen 3 diseases simultaneously: Zika, dengue fever, Chikunggunia.
