Motorola tested WiMax in Japan
Motorola has just reached an agreement with Softbank Group in deploying WiMax testing network in Tokyo.

Initially, the WiMax deployment project in Tokyo will last for 5 months, starting from September, and will allow Softbank Group to use wireless broadband technologies.
Motorola will deploy five WiMax access points and 25 sample mobile handsets, operating in the 2.5GHz band. The test project will also evaluate the MIMO capabilities of WiMax solutions provided by Motorola in supporting "multi antena" communications systems, as well as allowing the transmission of a larger amount of data over longer distances. .
Softbank Group is currently the provider of mobile connectivity, fixed communications and fixed broadband services. The company bought Vodafone KK, the third largest mobile operator in Japan, in April 2006 for $ 15.3 billion. Softbank Group currently has 26 million mobile and fixed-line customers in Japan.
