Campers in the Pambula area of New South Wales tried to use a volleyball net to catch the American crocodile and control its sharp teeth. The local police initially announced it was a native crocodile, but then they had to correct it for mistake.
The origin of the American crocodile is still a mystery because there is no one in the locality who registers to own crocodiles. Crocodiles are often found in large numbers in tropical regions of northern Australia in freshwater environments, while alligators are found only in the southeastern United States.

The two species have very far evolutionary relationships, similar to the relationship between humans and gorillas. Normally these crocodiles are quite similar but there is one striking difference is the U-shaped head of the American crocodile, while the crocodile head is usually more pointed and has a V-shaped shape.
Moreover, even when they shut their mouths, crocodiles often reveal their upper teeth and lower teeth, while American crocodiles will keep their deadly weapons hidden.
