The University of Cardiff archaeologist Reynold is the leader of excavations at Bryn Celli Ddu for the past 4 years, and her team will complete the fifth excavation year at the site.

Reynold, who also works for the Welsh heritage, told Live Science that excavations of an ancient thousand-year-old grave are nearing completion, and scientific experiments will now help determine the presence of any human being there.

Excavations initially indicate that the burial mound was built during the Bronze Age, much later than the Neolithic tomb, while some antiquities may be older than the grave.

"This shows Bryn Celli Ddu may have been a special ceremonial site for thousands of years ," Reynold said.
