The 3D food processor will print food layers that are fed from foods containing flour and oil into a nutritious diet. According to System & Materials Research Corporation, Anjan Contractor, this type of printer can use organic materials to produce pizza.

The printer input has many parts such as kneading and baking equipment with a hot surface, a tomato paste with oil and water, as well as a layer of protein made from milk, food animals and plants. The team expects to use animal protein from insects.

Food boxes have a shelf life of 30 years, enough time for astronauts to print food for the journey to Mars. Immediately following receipt of NASA's $ 125,000 NASA System & Materials Research for the design and manufacture of the printer model. The company used to make chocolate printers.
