After 30 years of active operation, creating a lot of buzz, NASA shuttle missions will officially stop working. In the future, NASA will focus on developing generations of taller, more spectacular spacecraft.

The ultimate "mission"

The US space shuttle Discovery landed safely at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on March 9, ending its 27-year journey in space. Discovery is an authentic "living record": "Living" in the longest space, the first spacecraft operated by female astronauts, the first spacecraft to reach Russia's Mir international space station, Performing 39 missions, flying 148 million miles (238 million km) in space, 5,830 rounds of Earth.

Space shuttle Endeavor made its first flight on May 7, 1992. By the end of the 25th mission and finally, the ship had operated a total of 229 days in orbit, traveling more than 197.6 million kilometers.

On April 12, 1981, NASA shuttle Space Shuttle flew two astronauts John Young and Bob Crippen into space. This is an event of great importance. It was the first time that rocket engines used solid materials to be used to propel a space ship into orbit.

Guion Bluford and four other astronauts flew into space on the space shuttle Challenger on August 30, 1983 . This is the first flight with the appearance of an African-American traveler. This is also the first time the shuttle is launched and landed at night.

On April 6 , 1984 , the Challenger shuttle flew into space to repair solar satellites. This is the first flight to fly into space with the main task of repairing.

7 ill-fated astronauts

On January 28, 1986 was the darkest day of NASA's shuttle program when seven astronauts were killed by the Space Shuttle Challenger after being launched. In particular, teacher Christa McAuliffe was chosen as the first teacher to be out of space.

After 2 and a half years, NASA had just solved the Challenger disaster and made the first flight after the disaster - the flight performed the STS-26 mission on Discovery ship on September 29, 1988.

On October 29 , 1998 , the Space Shuttle Discovery brought American Senator John Glenn (70) into space. Glenn is a member of the Mercury 7 group, the first American traveling group to choose to fly into space. He is the oldest person ever flown into space, the fifth person is in outer space and the first American to fly around the Earth. In addition, this is the second flight into Glenn's universe.

Currently, the international space station ISS has been completed construction. Since 1998, the work of conducting ISS construction has been carried out.

The disaster shuttle shuttle Columbia on February 1 , 2003 made NASA's shuttle program slump.

The crew of 7 members after 16 days of successful service is on the way back to earth when the ship breaks down. The reason is said to be due to the insulating porous piece on the tank outside the vessel has been peeled into pieces during the start up process and affect the left wing of the ship.

In 2011, the shuttle program Endeavor made its last flight.It is expected that the final task in this program will be carried out by space shuttle Atlantis on June 28, 2011, bringing four travelers and packages to the ISS international space station.
