Nearly a quarter of European bees are in danger of extinction
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has warned that nearly a quarter of European bees are facing extinction, mainly due to climate change and over-exploitation of agricultural land.

IUCN's study of 68 species of bumblebee in Europe emphasizes that up to 24% of these species are at risk of disappearing. The report also said that 46% of these species were reduced in number of individuals, including endangered species; 29% stable development; only 13% increase in the number of individuals. The rest are not known.

Like other bees, the tendency to reduce the number of bees is a threat to humans because the bees play an important role in pollinating plants, and therefore an important link in food production line.
Bumblebee is a large, hairy bee that lives in Europe, Asia and North America. According to IUCN, bumblebees account for the most important three-fifths of pollinators for European crops.
The IUCN study shows that the main cause of the threat of beekeeping is climate change, overproduction and changing the way agricultural land is used.
In addition, the situation of agricultural waste pollution and lack of habitat for bees due to rapid urbanization.
Researcher on ecological diversity in Europe is also the coordinator of the above study, Ana Nieto, thinks that protecting bees and their habitats, restoring degraded ecosystems and promoting eco-friendly agricultural activities are essential to preserve these bees.
